The Bay of Pigs invasion was an attempt by the CIA, that was approved by me to overthrow Cuban communist leader Fidel Castro. It was a very bad attempt, with bad planning on my part and no air support. The attempt was launched three months after I was in office and included 1,500 CIA trained Cuban exiles and two CIA agents that landed in Cuba and after 3 days was destroyed and captured by an opposing force of approximately 234,000 cubans. It increased tensions between Cuba and the U.S. and was one of the few bad decisions I made in office.

Space Race
The Space Race was an intense competition between us, the Americans and the Russians. When I was elected President, the Russians already had a man in space. Americans were very concerned that the Russians were getting ahead of them. I decided to plan the Apollo project. In 1969, six years after I was shot, America became the first nation and only nation that has ever reached the moon. A big accomplishment and one that made Americans feel superior over Russia.

The Cuban Missile Crisis
In September of 1962, the communist governments of Cuba and Russia placed nuclear missiles in Cuba. The missiles were pointed at the United States of America. When U.S. military intelligence discovered the missiles in October of 1962, we made removing the missiles a top priority. The United States under my leadership decided to put a blockade on any shipments arriving in Cuba.
The entire country and I were worried about a nuclear crisis. In fact, the whole world was worried that there would be a nuclear crisis and the world would go up in flames. At the times the Soviets thought I was extremely smart but unable to act and very indecisive. This combined with the growing number of missiles in the world created the closest thing to a meltdown in the Cold War.

Assassination
I was Assassinated on November 22, 1963, at 12:30 P.M. in Dallas, Texas. I was shot while riding with my wife in a motorcade. The ten-month investigation by the Warren Commission ended when they figured out that I was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald. The assassin was killed before he could stand trial.
Lee Harvey Oswald was a former US Marine when he defected the Soviet Union. When he returned he was arrested on suspicion that he had killed J. D. Tippit, a police officer in Dallas. He was also suspected for my assassination but he denied being involved with either of the assassinations. On April 10, 1963, he also attempted to assassinate General Edwin Walker. On November 24, 1963, he was shot himself by Jack Ruby on live television.
Even though the same conclusion was reached by the Warren Commission, the United States House Select Committee on assassinations, and other government investigations, many people didn't believe that Oswald was my assassin. There were many conspiracy theories about the assassination. Many believed that it involved the CIA, KGB, American Mafia, FBI director Edgar Hoover, and former Vice President Richard Nixon. One day after the assassination, fliers were released accusing me of Treason.
My assassination happened as my limousine drove down elm street. Most eyewitnesses claim that it was three shots. My death was discovered just before 12:30 P.M. in Dealey Plaza. I was shot in the upper back. The same bullet also hit Governor Connally. My death was very premature

Welcome to my site. My name is John Fitzgerald Kennedy and I was the president of the United States of America from 1961-1963. I was born on May 19, 1917 and was assassinated on November 22, 1963. Besides being president I was in the Navy and I was a journalist and a writer. I was also the youngest president and the first Roman Catholic president. During my brief term as president I was able to start the spce age. I represented the democratic party and had Lyndon Johnson as my Vice President. I married Jacqueline Lee Bouvier on September 12, 1953.
